Susie is a Colorado native who has made her home in Breckenridge for the past 23 years. Her passion for conservation was fueled by her father, who was the ultimate role model in NEVER wasting anything. Susie has been fortunate enough to travel to many parts of the world, comparing the wealth, abundance, wastefulness and varying attitudes towards conservation that exist among different cultures. Like many resourceful mountain people, she has supported herself over the years with a diverse list of jobs including ski patrolling, managing a garden center, teaching, waitressing, landscaping and even baking wedding cakes professionally. (Though she hopes never to bake another wedding cake again.) Her favorite place to be is outside. In the summer, this means spending time in her flower garden which consists primarily of native wildflowers, and she is proud of the bounty of vegetables she can grow while living at 10,400 feet.
