Slash, Yard Waste, and Wood

You can bring your slash and yard waste to the SCRAP for composting. Contaminated loads will be charged at the loose trash rate, along with applicable surcharges and additional hauling fees.

Slash and stumps must be separate loads for the lower rates (no dirt, rocks, or trash in load). Contact SCRAP for more info at (970) 468-9263 x 0.

Christmas Trees

You can bring your real Christmas trees (not artificial) to four places around Summit County.  At each place, trees MUST have all ornaments, tinsel, lights, etc. removed or will not be accepted.  The only municipal recycling facility that accepts the trees is Dillon.

  1. The Town of Breckenridge will accept them through January 31 at the Stilson Lot, just off Stables Road near Wellington. The town will burn trees at Ullr Fest in January.
  2. The Town of Frisco will accept trees at the Frisco Bay Marina dirt lot on the corner of Marina Road and Summit Boulevard after Christmas. Trees will be accepted 24 hours a day until 4 p.m. on January 26. They will be burned at the Spontaneous Combustion bonfire that evening.
  3. The Town of Dillon will accept the trees at the recycling center across from Town Hall.  The town will take them to the Summit County Resource Allocation Park to be turned into compost.
  4. The Summit County Resource Allocation Park (SCRAP) accepts the trees from individuals after Christmas through January 31st, where they are used in their composting program. The free dropoff is available during normal business hours, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
  5. The Town of Silverthorne is accepting trees from residents only through the end of January across from Trent Park.
