ABOUT US

High Country Conservation Center always needs volunteers.  We have opportunities to assist us on a long-term basis or just for an hour or a day.  The opportunities vary throughout the year and are of course based on your talents and interests.  Youth volunteers are always welcome to join us as well.  Group leaders should contact us to learn about those opportunities.

Current Volunteer Opportunities:

Certified Recycling Volunteer Program

Zero Waste Events

Join our Board of Directors or a Program Committee

Of course, we also are happy to accept assistance from you in your personal area of expertise. We have an ongoing volunteer project list that we are happy to send you, just let us know. It is best to contact us about your interest:

||Recycling Volunteers Wanted

New in 2009, the Summit Recycling Volunteer program will train community members to teach others about recycling in Summit County. Not only will a certified Recycling Volunteer understand what can and can't be recycled, he or she will become an expert on precycling, where recyclables go after they leave the County, and what recyclables are made into.

The main focus of this volunteer program is to provide docent-like representatives at the recycling drop-off centers (Breckenridge and Frisco) to answer recycling questions and show visitors how to recycle properly. The program aims to have certified Recycling Volunteers at drop-off centers during the busy times such as weekends and before and after holidays. Recycling Volunteers will also help spread the word about waste reduction options at "zero waste" events during the summer.

Get a "Clean Recycling is Green Recycling" t-shirt and be a part of the solution!

Volunteer trainings are scheduled around volunteer interest! If you are interested in attending and becoming a recycling volunteer, please contact Carly at 668-5703 or carly@highcountryconservation.org.
