High Country Conservation Center hosts and participates in several events each year. Check out our 2008 schedule below. 

Tim McClure Memorial Benefit
February 29, 2008 - Silverthorne Pavilion - 7pm
This fundraising event celebrates the spirit that Tim McClure put into our organization with live entertainment, a huge silent auction with a special green products showcase, fine foods from ski communities around the world (including a hot chocolate bar), beer & wine and good company. Admission is $20 for adults, $10 for kids under 12 and includes food and one drink ticket.

Earth WEEK & EARTH DAY ACTION FAIR
April 21-26 2008
Celebrate Earth Day with a week-long series of discussions and presentations and cap it all off with the Earth Day Action Fair on Saturday, April 26th with booths, workshops, and kids activities. Celebrate our potential to make the world a better place and learn how you can take action! Click on the link above for all the details.

GREEN SCENE AWARDS
Saturday, April 26, 2008 - Frisco Community Center - High Noon
Held annually at the Earth Day Action Fair.  Green businesses, teachers, youth, adults, government officials and more are recognized for their efforts.  Please join us for this inspirational event and help recognize the amazing people and organizations in our community. 

Annual Town Clean-Ups & Picnics
Saturday, May 17, 2008
Each town holds an annual clean-up event in May where residents are encouraged to help clean up their town after the winter snows. After cleaning up the towns, join the Conservation Center at Town Picnics to learn about composting. All Town Picnics are "Zero Waste" meaning that almost all of the would-be-waste from the events is recycled or composted or reduced in the first place! Contact your town for details about the event in your area.    

Farmers Market Booths

Have a resource conservation question or just want to check out some of our fun green products and publications?  Visit us at the Dillon Farmers Market (each Friday throughout the summer at the Dillon Amphitheatre). 

Master Mountain Composter Program
Summer 2008 - Thursdays - May 22, May 29, June 5, June 12, June 19, June 26
Fifteen participants will be accepted to participate in this training program that creates composting experts who will be ready to compost with confidence and help educate others in the community. 

Solar Celebration at the Ecoasis
Friday, June 20th, 4-6pm, Ecoasis in Breckenridge
Celebrate the sun and the longest day of the year at the Ecoasis in Breckenridge. Hands on solar energy demonstrations, groovy gadgets that use the sun's brilliant rays for power, libations and appetizers, and good people with good ideas!

Summit's Walk, Bus or Bike to Work Day
Wednesday, June 25th, 2008
Colorado’s Bike to Work Day is Wednesday, June 25th! Take this opportunity to get out of your car and find an alternative way to get to work. Whether you walk, take the Stage, or bike to work, you’ll feel better and get some good eco-karma points too. Each town will host a breakfast to help get you powered for your ride or reward you for your efforts. Please bring your own mug! Breckenridge: Riverwalk Center, 7:30am to 9:00am. Breakfast burritos, coffee, and juice. Frisco: Frisco Communtiy Center (110 3rd Ave), 7am to 9am. Hearty breakfast, coffee, and prizes. Silverthorne: Recreation Center, 6:30am to 9:30am. Breakfast and coffee.

Low Carbon Diet Gathering
Tuesday, Septmeber 23rd, 4-6pm, Ecoasis in Breckenridge
Become part of the global warming solution! Find out how you and your famliy can go on a Low Carbon Diet and join a national movement of people who are making a difference and losing a few TONS of greenhouse gases from simple, effective lifestyle changes.  

Fall Energy Efficiency Extravaganza and Summit Sustainable Homes Tour
Saturday, October 11th
This annual event held each Fall highlights simple and practical ways to conserve energy in your home or business during the winter months. Join us for workshops, demonstrations, and a tour of Sustainable Homes in Summit County.  

Community Recycling Forum
Saturday, November 15th, Summit County Resource Allocation Park (SCRAP)
Celebrate America Recycles Day at the landfill! Join community recycling experts for a tour of the Summit Materials Recovery Facility, or MRF, and get the dirty details on Summit County's waste stream. Learn where all those recyclables go, what they get made into, and find out if we are really making a difference.

Recycled Arts Gala
Thursday, December 4th, 2008 - Ecoasis in Breckenridge
Eco-chic shopping for green gifts for the holiday season! Find one-of-a-kind recycled arts and crafts from national and local artists, sample organic wines, chocolates, and cheeses and help support your local conservation center. 

Christmas Tree Recycling
December 26th-January 31st
In Breckenridge at the Slash Drop on Wellington Road. In Frisco at the empty lot to the right of the Frisco Marina. At the Summit County Landfill in the Wood Waste area. Watch for signs for all of these or call 668-5703 for more details.

Solar celebration
Friday, June 20, 4pm to 6pm at the Ecoasis in Breckenridge. Celebrate the Solstice, toast the Sun, check out groovy solar gadgets and mingle with Summit County's renewable energy experts at the Solar Celebration!

walk, bus or Bike to Work Day
Wednesday, June 25th. Get out of your car and walk, take the Stage, or bike to work. You'll feel better and earn great eco-karma points too! Stop by one of three locations for free breakfast.
