40 Garden Plots/200 Gardeners
Who said growing food at 9,600 feet was impossible? We have nearly 200 gardeners sharing 40 (5′ x 12′) plots at the Colorado Mountain College Campus in Breckenridge! This is Breckenridge’s first community garden and it takes the cake as the highest community garden in Summit County. Elevation, cold nights, and unpredictable mountain climate won’t get in the way of our short growing season. We’re happy to show off our cold-hardy veggies that make the garden explode in edible greens from May to September. To help extend growing season, we’ve designed mini-hoophouses to protect baby plants beyond the handful of frost-free days.
