The Green Scene Awards, which recognize Summit County's greenest folks, are presented annually at the Earth Day Action Fair, an event hosted by the High Country Conservation Center, the Blue River Group of the Sierra Club, the Blue River Water Group and Continental Divide Land Trust. In 2008, the event will be on Saturday, April 26th at noon at the Frisco Community Center (110 3rd Ave, corner of 3rd and Granite, in Frisco).

Categories for the awards include:

* Lisa Simpson Outstanding Youth -presented to a local youth
* Organic Fertilizer -presented to a local teacher
* Essential Earthy Employee -presented to someone instituting environmental programs at work
* Greener Summit Business -presented to a local business
* Green Machine Government -presented to a government agency or official in our area
* Julia Butterfly Individual Achievement -presented to a local citizen
* Wild Wilderness Wonder -presented to someone trying to protect our wild places

To nominate someone please print a nomination form (download GSA Nomination Form), fill it out and send it to us by Monday, April 14th. If you are unable to open the link simply send us the name of your nominee and their contact info, your name and contact info, the award that you feel they are so deserving of and an explanation of why they deserve the award. Solar celebration
Friday, June 20, 4pm to 6pm at the Ecoasis in Breckenridge. Celebrate the Solstice, toast the Sun, check out groovy solar gadgets and mingle with Summit County's renewable energy experts at the Solar Celebration!

walk, bus or Bike to Work Day
Wednesday, June 25th. Get out of your car and walk, take the Stage, or bike to work. You'll feel better and earn great eco-karma points too! Stop by one of three locations for free breakfast. Breckenridge at the Riverwalk Center from 7:30am to 9am; Frisco at the Frisco Community Center (110 3rd Ave) from 7am to 9am; Silverthorne at the Recreation Center from 6:30-9:30am.
