About us
The Town of Silverthorne recognizes the importance of increasing energy efficiency and minimizing the waste of natural resources to preserve our environment and ensure the long-term viability of our town. The Town of Silverthorne is also supportive of voluntary guidance to businesses, particularly in the form of incentives to encourage business success and economic development.
The purpose of the Silverthorne Energy Smart Business Program is to assist businesses with technical energy and waste audits, and to provide recommendations for upgrades that are specific to each business. In conjunction with the High Country Conservation Center, the Town will also provide cash incentives to complete the recommended upgrades.
Why is this type of green business program successful?
The program provides flexibility for businesses. Participation in the program is voluntary. For businesses that choose to participate, technical energy and waste audits are carried out free of charge, and recommendations are provided for upgrades that are specific to each business. Any upgrade listed on the audit is eligible for program incentives.
The program speaks to the bottom-line. Businesses are given a cash incentive to complete upgrades. In addition, audits provide calculations for potential monetary, energy and waste savings, as well as simple payback for any improvements.
The program provides local technical support and coaching. Without appropriate follow-up, audits often go unused. Business owners will be supported throughout the process from audit, to tracking and upgrade.
